Beryl Cook was a British painter and illustrator renown for his comical drawings of women in funny social situations. Beryl Cook was born in Engham, Surrey, England in the year 1926.
Cook was self taught as an artist, only beginning her art career in her middle age. She began to sell her art in the 1970s, when she was nearly fifty years of age. The artist was an introvert, and painted characters she wished she could be.
The artist was influenced by Sir Stanley Spencer, who painted wonderful scenes often of biblical stories, with many characters and actions involved.
Beryl Cook passed away in 2008 at the age of 81 years of age.
Price range information: Cook was an outstanding and prolific printmaker and prints can be found for less than one thousand dollars. Original oils can reach as high as $50,000.
