Artist of the moment…….Allan D’Arcangelo



Allan D’Arcangelo was an American painter and printmaker born in Buffalo, New York in the year 1930. D’Arcangelo attended the University of Buffalo earning a B.A. The artist did post graduate work at Mexico City College located in Mexico City.

His first exhibition of his work was at Mexico City College.

The artist taught at the collegiate level at Brooklyn College and also at the City College of New York.

D’Arcangelo also painted the celebrities of the 1960s, as did many artists of the Pop Art Movement, including Caroline Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe.

For his American landscapes and highways D’Arcangelo used Route 1. The is a major roadway that connects Maine to Florida and extends more than 2,000 miles.

Allan D’Arcangelo passed away in 1998 at the age of 68.

D’Arcangelo is included in the Tate Gallery, the Denver Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and the Whitney Museum of Art.

Price range information: Works range from $5,000 for a print up to $400,000 for an original. The artist painted in oils and acrylics and also created works in plaster.
