Artist of the moment……..Tom Holland




Tom Holland is an American abstract artist.  Tom Holland was born in Seattle, Washington in the year 1936. Holland’s work touches many movements of art including Modernism, Abstraction, and Constructivism.

Holland attended Willamette College located in Salem, Oregon. The artist also attended the University of California at Berkeley.

The artist was given a Fulbright scholarship to study art abroad in Santiago, Chile.

Holland was also the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Holland has also taught at the collegiate level at the San Francisco Art Institute.

The artist is now based out of Berkeley, California.

Holland is part of many prominent collections including the Museum of Modern Art and Whitney Museum of New York City.

Artist of the moment………Ceramic artist Marilyn Levine


Marilyn Levine is a fantastic artistic who works with ceramics in a hyper realist style. Marilyn Levine was born in Alberta, Canada in the year 1935.

Levine depicts such soft subjects as socks but her style works best with old worn items including leather jackets and suitcases.

Levine attended college the University of Regina and the University of Alberta. She studied at the University of California at Berkeley. Levine is certainly of the smartest artists profiled here! She earned a bachelors and masters degree in chemistry before studying art and sculpture in the United States.

Marilyn Levine passed away in 2005.

Artist of the moment…..Sidney Gordin

Sidney Gordin was born in Chilyabinsk, Russia in the year 1918. Gordin was a painter and sculptor dealing with modernist design and simple geometric shapes employing the rectangle in many works.  His family moved to the United States in 1922.

For his artistic education Gordin attended Cooper Union located in New York City.

Elected to the National Academy of Design in the year 1993.

Was part of the teaching faculty at the University of California Berkeley from 1958 to 1986.

Sidney Gordin passed away in 1996 at the age of 77 years old.

Many works are made of wood and then painted.

Gordin is included in prominent collections of the Whitney Museum of New York City, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the San Francisco Museum of Art.
