Artist of the moment……Ekrem Yalcindag

 

Ekrem Yalcindag is a wonderful painter born in Golbasi, Turkey in the year 1964. His work is an explosion of color and repeating shapes.

The artist studied in Izmir, Turkey at Docuz Eylul University. Yalcindag also studied in Frankfurt, Germany with Hermann Nitch.

Price range information: Works range from $10,000 to $100,000.  The artist works mainly in oils.

What a great use of color and organic and geometric shapes!

The artist has been featured in many museum shows and here we see some flags made to promote a show in Zurich, Switzerland in 2013:

What a wonderful style that combines elements of Op-Art and the colorist movement.

Artist of the moment……Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu

Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu was a world famous artist born in Gorele, Giresan Province, it what used to be the Ottoman Empire in the year 1911. The artist is also a poet. A brother was a renown writer and sister an architect. His father played a key role in the government, attaining high positions and the artist lived in many cities during his childhood.

The artist attended the Academy of Fine Arts located in the capital Istanbul, Turkey. To continue his artistic education Eyuboglu moved to Paris, France and worked under the guidance of Andres L’hote.

Eyuboglu also was prolific as he wanted the average person to be able to afford his art, developed woodcuts, and would allow the students he was working with to help in the printmaking process.

Bedri Eyuboglu worked as a painter, poet, sculptor, and also completed many mosaics throughout his career. Working in gouache he completed works in various mediums at a quick pace.

The artist worked mainly with gouache on paper as his mediums of choice.

Bedri Eyuboglu passed away in 1975 from cancer of the pancreas.

Part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

I enjoy his use of color and the way he uses designs from the Persian School of Art in his work. A wonderful mix of realism and abstraction.
