Artist of the moment…………Syd Solomon

Syd Solomon was an American abstract expressionist painter. Syd Solomon was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania in the year 1917. The artist attended the Art Institute of Chicago.

In 1940 the artist signed up for military service. He would help design camouflage for soldiers. Another of his assignments was to do aerial surveys and recon missions that made him see the world in a more abstract manner.

After his military service Solomon attended school in Paris, France at the L’Ecole des Beaux-Arts.

The artist lived a wonderful lifestyle which included summers in the Hamptons of New York and winters in Sarasota, Florida.

His work has been shown at many of the famed museums of the world including the Whitney Museum.

Unlike the previous post, Solomon employed the color black often in his paintings. Solomon enjoyed mixing mediums and worked with polymer tempera, acrylics, inks, gouache,  and oils.
