Artist of the moment……..Street Art Collective Hygienic Dress League

Hygienic Dress League is a street art collective based out of Detroit, Michigan.

In this fantastic clip we see a wonderful street project by H.D.L. that involved streaming images over steaming sewer caps creating exciting holograms:

Price range information: Sorry none available.

With the concepts of marketing, branding, and advertising Hygienic Dress League reminds me a great deal of Andy Warhol when he first moved to the factory. Warhol at the time was just making his foray into mass marketing with his reproductions of the Brillo Box.

Hygienic Dress League also tried to sell shares in their collective. This reminded of when the artist Thomas Kinkade successfully listed his company on the N.Y.S.E.

In this clip a great selection of animals and insects painted by Dzia:

The artist is very creative and says his work is spontaneous. The end result might be something John Singer Sargent would have produced if he were a street artsist. I say this because Dzia’s works looks very loose and lively, but a tremendous amount of work and thought went into it.

What a fantastic draftsman!

If you enjoy street art dealing with animals and other creatures, be sure and check out the work of another Belgian street artist named ROA, already profiled here.

I find Tellas similar to other street artists who work with the same subject matter cleverly combining their art with what is already in their surroundings. Some artists might use a bush or leaves as hair for a figure. Tellas’ work has a lot of movement and the fluid nature of his work keeps the viewers eye moving even when looking at a multiple story mural.

We close by watching a time lapse video of Tellas working on a unique mural that uses two sides of a building to make a wonderful abstract design:

What I find most interesting about Sabogal is that when she began painting the female figure and became obsessed with it, she switched from painting glamorous movie star women to heavier and fuller women and loved the results.
