Artist of the moment……….Seymour Boardman

Seymour Boardman was a wonderful abstract artist born in Brooklyn, New York in the year 1921. Over his career the artist worked in many styles usually with color, but in the 1970s he worked in black and white. In the late 70s and 80s Boardman focused on rectangular shapes with vivid color.

Boardman attended the City College of New York City.

The artist served in the United States Air Force during the Second World War. He was badly injured and as a result had some paralysis of his arm and shoulder. After being granted a medical discharge from service Boardman enrolled at Ecole des Beaux Arts located in Paris, France. Boardman also attended the Academie De La Grand Chaumiere, and studied with Fernand Leger.

Boardman moved back to the United States where he studied at the Art Student’s League of New York City.

The artist is part of the Guggenheim and Whitney Museum collections.
