Artist of the moment…….Reginald Brill

Reginald Brill was born in London, England in the year 1902. When the artist was barely a teenager Brill was working for the City of London and taking classes at Saint Martin’s School of Art during the evening. It was the time of the First World War.

Brill married a fellow artist named Rosalie.

For his artistic education Brill attended the Slade School of Art located in England under scholarship.

Reginald Brill passed away in 1974.

Brill taught at the Blackheath School of Art. Brill also put his knowledge of art into business, producing two books on modernist paintings.

Brill was a great animator of people. The expressions of his people are very easy to interpret and very expressive at the same time. Brill’s work reminds me of the great caricaturist and satire artist the Frenchman Honore Daumier.

Price range information: Works range from $2,000 to $35,000. Brill worked in watercolor, gouache, oils, ink, and graphite.

Nick Brandt is a wonderful photographer born in          England in the year 1966. Brandt is renown for his photography of the African landscape and the animals it contains. Brandt only shoots her artwork on the continent of Africa. For his artistic education Brandt attended the Saint Martins College of  Art and Design.

Brandt is very concerned with environmental causes and started his own movement and charity which is named the Big Life Foundation. Its purpose is to raise awareness of the number of elephants that are slaughtered for their tusks.

Brandt started off in the entertainment industry directing music videos. He was a very successful director. Just a few of the entertainers he has worked with include Michael Jackson and Moby.

Whilst shooting a video with Michael Jackson in Africa the artist became very aware of his passion for animals. He has worked tirelessly to capture these images before these locales become extinct due to man. Brandt started to document his African journeys in 2000. Many images are made into books.
