In this clip we view a show that opened in 2014 in New York City at Cheim and Read Gallery:

Pat Steir is also part of many prestigious collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of Art both located in New York, and the Tate Museum of London, England.

Price range information: Works range from $5,000 to $400,000. Steir is a prolific printmaker producing etchings and woodcuts.

The artist reminds me of Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto.  In fact Steir landscapes have much in common with Eastern painting ideals, stressing feeling and atmosphere rather than a specific location.

As a refresher here is a quick Art21 interview with the famous Hiroshi Sugimoto and talking about the themes of Western style of painting:

Artist of the moment……..Ian Davenport

Ian Davenport is a British artist known for his abstract and very colorful type of painting. Ian Davenport was born in London,  England in the year 1966. For his artistic education Davenport attended Northwich College of Art and Design located in Cheshire, England. The artist also studied at the famed Goldsmith’s College of Art located in London, England.

Davenport lives and works out of London, England.

Davenport was nominated for the Turner Prize.

Some key aspects of the process of creating for Davenport include the use of household glossy paint. This gives the work a very reflective and modern texture and feel. Another interesting idea is to poor the paint and let gravity be the architect of his work.

Price range information: Works range from $5,00o to $40,00o.

The artist is a both a painter and printmaker. For his painted works Davenport uses fiber board rather than canvas on most occasions.

In this clip we view a show that took place at the Paul Kasmin Gallery titled “Colorfall.” This exhibition is a great example of the style of this artist. Many examples of pouring paint, which is a signature style for the artist.

Here we take a quick glance at some print editions by Ian Davenport:
