Lady Aiko is an internationally renown street artist from Japan. Lady Aiko was born in Tokyo, Japan. The artist attended college at Tokyo Zokei University where she studied filmmaking and graphics design. Lady Aiko went on to earn an M.F.A. from the New School located in New York City.
After college the artist worked with Japan’s version of Andy Warhol, Takashi Murikami.
The artist has also worked with the street legend Banksy, taking pictures of the artist whilst Banksy made unauthorized installations at the Museum of Modern Art located in New York City. She has also worked with the group F.A.I.LE.

Nate Lowman is a contemporary American artist renown for his subject matter of bullet holes. Nate Lowman was born in Las Vegas, Nevada in the year 1979. Lowman is a prolific painter and printmaker.
Lowman attended New York University located in New York City where he earned a B.F.A.

When viewing Lowman’s work I am reminded of Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. His bullet hole works are usually made by a silkscreen printed on an irregular shaped canvas.
Marcus Amerman is a Native American artist renown for his images made of beads. Marcus Amerman was born in Phoenix, Arizona in the year 1959.
The artist earned a B.F.A. from Whitman College located in Walla Walla, Washington. Amerman also attended the Institute of American Indian Arts.
Amerman represents the Choctaw tribe.

Stikki Peaches is an amazing street artist and print maker from Montreal, Canada. The artist creates wheatpastes for most of his street art. His work in the studio consists of acrylic paint, silkscreen, and collage.
The artist often uses superheroes and comic strip characters in his work.
Jason Stopa is an American artist who works in a style that fuses Pop and Abstract styles of painting. Jason Stopa was born in the year 1983.
Stopa earned a B.F.A. from Indiana University. He went on to earn a M.F.A. from the Pratt Institute.
In many works the artist is trying to recreate a childhood feeling or imagery. One series the artist completed dealt with visual patterns of old school video games.

Gary Taxali is a contemporary artist and illustrator from Toronto, Canada renown for his cartoon style that brings to mind the commercial themed pop art masters of the 1960s such as Lichtenstein and Warhol.

Carroll Dunham is an American artist renown for his paintings featuring human body parts painted in bold acrylic paint. Carroll Dunhan was born in New Haven, Connecticut in the year 1949. Dunham’s work explores many different genres including realism, surrealism, and Pop.
The artist is a prolific printmaker.
Dunham attended Trinity College located in Hartford, Connecticut.
The artist is married to famed photographer Laurie Simmons. The couple are based out of New York City, and Cornwall, Connecticut.
Dunham is the past recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment of the Art and Guggenheim Foundations.

Another artist who paints in a similar style who makes references to the consumer and popular imagery is the artist Greg Miller.
Zenita Komad is a contemporary artist from Austria working in a modern style. Zenita Komad was born in Austria in the year 1980. Komad is a painter and photographer.
The artist often adds text or a form of dimensionality to her artwork.
Komad attended the Academy of Fine Art and the University of Applied Art located in Austria.
The artist is based out of Vienna, Austria.

Richard Artschwager was an American painter, sculptor, and furniture designer who participated in many movements over his career including Pop Art, Minimalist Art, Conceptual Art. Richard Artschwager was born in Washington D.C. in the year 1923. His family had emigrated from Europe to the United States.
His family was very educated his father being a botanist and his mother took art and design lessons at the Corcoran School of Art. Artschwager would attend Cornell University located in Ithaca, New York where he studied math and chemistry. His war service in World War Two interrupted his education but the artist would finish with a degree of physics.
Artschwager also created his own simple modernist furniture. He was even commissioned by the Catholic Church to make portable altars that could be used on various types of vessels and ships. Much of his work was done using wood and formica.

Richard Artschwager passed away in 2013 at the age of 89 years of age.

Artshwager’s work can be found in the Museum of Modern Art located in New York City, and also European Museums including the Tate.
The artist was great at experimenting and finding new ways to express himself. In the 1980s and 1990s the artist took on many studio assistants and was highly productive producing furniture and sculpture work. His work during this period of his life reminds me of contemporary artist Jeff Koons.
