Artist of the moment………Peter Busa



Peter Busa was an American abstract expressionist painter. Peter Busa was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the year 1914. The artist attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology located in Pittsburgh.

Busa also attended the Art Student’s League of New York City. The artist also studied with Hans Hofmann at his school.

The artist was included in the WPA (Federal Art Project)

Busa also taught at the collegiate level at Cooper Union, the State University of New York at Buffalo, and New York University located in New York City.

Peter Busa passed away in 1985.

Price range information: The artist worked in oils, gouache, and mixed media. Works range from $5,000 to $50,000.

Artist of the moment……Karen Kilimnik

Karen Kilimnik is an American artist who works with oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastel,photography, crayons, and markers. Kilimnik also produces installation art.

Karen Kalemnik was born in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania in the year 1955. Kilimnik attended Temple University located in Philadelphia.

From a design standpoint Kilimnik is unique in her creative use of the circle in many compositions. Another intersting twist about her work is the shapes of womens hair in her work. The hair is done in a manner that shows movement of the character and atmosphere.

Price range information: Works range from $ 10,000 to $600,000.

Kalemnik is part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of New York City.

Kalemnik enjoys portraying feminism in her works. Other feminist artists worth checking are Nicole Eisenman, Judy Chicago, and Hilary Harkness.
