Artist of the moment………….Bonnie MacLean

Bonnie MacLean was an American poster renown for her work with the Fillmore Auditorium located in San Francisco, California. MacLean was also a promoter and was also once married to concert promoter Bill Graham.

Bonnie MacLean was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the year 1961.

She attended Pennsylvania State University where she received a B.F.A. After college she headed to California and took a job where Bill Graham would serve as her boss. When living in California she attended the San Francisco Academy of Art, the California College of Arts and Crafts, and San Francisco Art Institute.

MacLean took over for artist Wes Wilson after the two had a falling out. She was then in charge of all promotional works that took place at the Fillmore. She went from overseeing the projects, to being the one that had to produce them. She handled the task wonderfully.

MacLean quit doing the posters in 1968. She divorced Graham in 1975. The artist went on to paint landscapes and the nudes.

She became famous for her posters during the late 60s. Her posters gave the appropriate look of psychedelic imagery quite popular at that time. She lived an exciting lifestyle in the 1960s. She expanded on what prior artist Wes Wilson did for his posters by cultural items from the Native American culture.
