Herritt has won many prestigious fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Pollack- Krasner Foundation.

I enjoy the artist’s creativity in designing an exiting shape for overall design of her text. Some other artists working with text include Denis Brown, Robert Cottingham, and Stephen Powers. I find Herritt’s work reminds me of French street artist Tilt. Tilt will use a graffiti type lettering to build up three dimensional images.

In this clip we view a wonderful time lapse video that shows a huge mural titled Heaven’s Gate :

What a wonderful use of color and shapes! His works seem to vibrate and have a sense of movement that reminds one of the Op Art movement and artists such as Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely.
