Artist of the moment…….Chu Teh Chun

Chu Teh Chun is one of China’s most celebrated painters. Chu Teh Chun was born in the year 1920 in Baitou Zhen in Jiangsu province, China. His family comes from a tradition of doctors. His work is a wonderful blend of realism and abstraction with wonderful usage of color. As much of eastern painting the idea is to create a mood or atmosphere, rather than recreate a specific locale. Chu Teh Chun does this perfectly.

For his artistic education Chun attended the National School for the Arts in Hangzhou, China. Whilst here he would meet another abstract painter already profiled here Zao Wou-Ki.

Chu Teh Chun taught a the collegiate level for many years. He was a professor at University of Nankin. In addition the artist taught in Taiwan.

Chu Teh Chun would spend time visiting various cities in Europe before settling in Paris, France.

Many of his works are done on a very large scale.

The artist has had exhibitions in many museums in China.

The artist was admired by French President Jacques Chirac.

Price range information: Prints , watercolors, and in works range between $5,000 and $100,000. Works in oils have broken $1,000,000 at auction. Ceramic works :No pricing available.
