Artist of the moment….Lucassie Ikkidluak

 

 

Lucassie Ikkidluak is an Inuit artist from Kimmirut, Nunavut Territory, Canada born in the year 1949. Ikkidluak is renown for his work with the musk ox. For his mediums the artist works with serpentine and antlers for the most part.

price range information: Works range from $1,500 to $8,000.

Ikkidluak began carving in the late 1960s. He learned to carve by watching other artists.

Brothers and sisters are artists too.

Love his interpretation of the musk ox, mainly for the way he portrays its hair, it show lots of movement.  One work is titled Wind Swept Musk Ox.

Nuveeya Ipellie was an Inuit sculptor born in 1920 in the Iqaluit, Nunavut Territory, Canada. He was renown for working with the human figure. Most works priced $500 to $2,000.

Passed away in 2010.

Father of another sculptor named Seepee Ipellie. Below some examples of his style. Seepee lived from 1940 to 2000. Seepee fell in love with carving whilst in a hospital stay when he was a young teen of fifteen years old. Below some example’s of his work. Seepee Ipellie was renown for working with the muskox.

Seepee Ipellie passed away in 2000. The artist lived in Iqaluit, Nunavut Territory, Canada for the majority of his life. Most works priced between $1,000 and $3,000.
