Chris Burden was an American sculptor, conceptual, and performance artist who got shot and nailed to a car all for art! Chris Burden was born in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 1946.
In one of his best acclaimed series of performance art Chris Burden takes over television. Back in the beginning days of television it didn’t seem a regular person could appear on tube and its 3 channels.
Burden actually bought air time and challenged the idea of local programming. Here are his commercials from the 1970s that actually appeared on tv!:

Burden was a fascinating artist capable of working in any medium. I enjoy his film works from the 1960s and 1970s the most. With the use of 8mm and 16mm film these works have wonderful home movie feel to them.
The artist has been very success in his commercial ventures. He has helped to design apparel and watches.
Its interesting to see the different portrayals of the mouth and lips in art. Some other artists who came up with some great designs include Andy Warhol and the photographer Marilyn Minter.

I really enjoy the artist’s style of painting the female face and figure on wood. Her backgrounds are very abstract since she paints on wood and lets this pattern be seen. The artist reminds me of Swoon although Kawasaki’s character’s being overtly more sexual.

Its great to look back at the artist who were taggers and to see where we have come as far as the street art movement. One of my favorite street artists who works with letter form is the French artist Tilt. Tilt has been profiled here already, and uses his name or other words to make wonderful items including shoes, donuts, and flags.
Some call the artist Risk the godfather of graffiti, but I prefer to think of him as the great character from Harry Potter, Dumbledore! A distinguished gentleman at the height of his powers!

I love the design aspect of this artists work. He includes patterns and abstract designs that remind me of the way Chuck Close depicts the face. Very abstract but yet real at the same time.
