Artist of the moment….Ningeokuluk Teevee

Ningeokuluk Teevee is a contemporary Inuit artist renown for her graphic design work. Nigeokuluk Teevee was born in the Cape Dorset, Nunavut Territory, Canada in the year 1963.

Is a member of the Kinngait Studio printmaking co-op. In 2012 she had three works included in the annual print collection. Teevee is a very prolific artist as far as output. She draws both animals and people and is fond of drawing birds such as the Canadian loon or owls.

She makes remarkable eyes and find repeating patterns to use in the feathers. Very similar to Charley Harper, the American illustrator who was a master at using simple lines to create awesome characters. Below an example of Charley Harper’s owls.


The artist also enjoys working from great perspectives, sometimes from many feet above the subject.

Has written and illustrated a children’s book. The book is titled Alego and was nominated for the governors choice for children’s literature illustration.
