Artist of the moment……Armin Hansen

 

The next two posts we will be studying a father and son painting team, the Hansen family. This post will be about Armin Hansen, the son of Herman Hansen who was  renown for his paintings of the American West. Hansen is associated with the Impressionist style.

Armin Hansen was born in San Francisco, California in the year 1886. His father Herman Hansen gave his son many lessons on drawing and painting.

For his collegiate education Armin Hansen attended what is now the San Francisco Academy of Art. The artist also studied in Germany.

Armin Hansen also taught at the University of California at Berkeley.

Hansen enjoyed painting the waves and surf he saw at the coast line of Monterey, California. He also enjoyed painting the fisherman and many of his best works include fisherman going out on rough and tough waters.

Armin Hansen passed away in 1957.

price range information: Works range from $5,000 to $400,000. Hansen worked in oils, watercolors, crayon, and was an avid printmaker.
