Jay Simeon is a Northwest Coast Haida artist born in the year 1976 in Fort McLeod, Alberta, Canada. His father was from the Haida nation (northwest coast artist) and his mother from the Blackfoot nation (plains Indian artist .) Simeon is very diverse in his mediums as he paints, carves, is a printmaker and makes jewelry.

Simeon was able to learn some basic Haida design methods from a first cousin named Sharon Hitchcock, who shared his Haida background and love of the Haida style of art. Simeon has been practicing Haida art since 1990.
For his artistic education Simeon attended Vancouver Community College. This is where he learned the most about jewelry making.
