As a cut paper enthusiast this is one of my favorite clips that is just as exciting as watching Matisse work on a papercut. Here we view Brittney Lee in action as she cuts a wonderful piece of art:

Artist of the moment………Lorelay Bove

Lorelay Bove is a wonderful artist and illustrator who has worked with Disney and Pixar animation studios. Bove was born in Spain. Bove attended the famed California Art Institute and then worked for Pixar and Disney studios.

Bove had a great hint at how to improve your illustrations. Take a great work like Alice in Wonderland, and create your own scene. Bove also loves to paint whilst traveling. Her works in this style remind me a great deal of American travel poster artist David Klein, already profiled here.

Price range information: Prints range from $100 to $500. No pricing on originals.

The artist was in charge of developing important sequences in the modern comic movie titled “Wreck it Ralph.” This was a great and successful movie about a video game character coming to life. In this clip Bove talks about this work:

As a huge fan of former Disney artist Mary Blair, I found Bove’s work to be similar in creativity and childlike freedom.

Below another great interview which also shows some artwork at various stages of development:

Below a link to the blog of Lorelay Bove. Very up to date and unique perspectives animation:

Artist of the moment….Luc Tuymans

Luc Tuymans is a wonderful contemporary artist born in Mortsel, BelgiumĀ  in the year 1958. Tuymans makes references to international events that have been on the news and in the papers. He works with oils on canvas with references to photographs.

As for paint quality and color, his work is very dull and greyed out, it reminds me of the way watercolor sometimes looks brilliant when fresh, then the paint dries and sometimes the color goes away.

For his collegiate education Tuymans attended the National School for the Visual Arts in Brussels and the Koninkliijke Academy in Antwerp. He was studying the fine arts at these colleges that switched his major to art history finishing up at Vriije University in Brussels.

price range information: The artist has broken the one million dollar mark at auction with a the sale of Mwana Kitoka for $1.4 million. Below is this painting:
