Artist of the moment……Northwest Coast Artist Dean Heron

Dean Heron is a young Northwest Coast artist born in the year 1970 in Teslin, Yukon. Dean Huron represents the Kaska/Tlingit nations. His father worked for the public school system so the artist was able to see much of the country as a child. Dean Heron is a member of the Wolf Clan.

Heron started to pursue art as a profession with the encouragement of his wife. Heron learned to paint first, and then took up carving. Eventually Dean Heron enrolled at the Freda Deising School of Northwest Coast Art where he studied under master Northwest Coast artist Dempsey Bob among other notable artists.

Recently Dean Heron took a voyage to New Zealand to learn about the art and culture there.
