Artist of the moment……..Charles Shaw


Charles Shaw was an American painter renown for his abstract paintings. Charles Shaw was born in the year 1892. His family was quite wealthy, but he was raised by his from an early age as he parents died when he was still a youngster. Shaw was a founding member of the American Abstract Artists group.


The artist attended Yale University located in New Haven, Connecticut. Shaw also studied at the Art Student’s League of New York City. He was able to study with Thomas Hart Benton and George Luks.

Shaw was not only a painter, but a great writer as well.

Charles Shaw passed away in 1974.

Shaw is part of many prominent museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Whitney Museum of Art both  located in  New York City.

Price range information: Works range from $5,000 for a lithograph to $75,000 original in oils.
