Artist of the moment….photographer John Divola

John Divola is an American photographer born in Los Angeles, California in the year 1949. For his artistic education Divola attended California State University at Northridge. For his masters degree Divola attended University of California in Los Angeles, U.C.L.A.. Divola is renown for shooting images that not everyone might see as beautiful. A great example of this is his series titled Zuma. This series was shot in old abandoned houses that were painted on the inside by Divola himself.

price range information: Most works priced between $1,000 and $4,000.

Another well received series was titled “As Far as I can Get.” The artist would use the timer function on the camera and then run away and the camera would shoot the image via the timer.

Winner of Guggeheim and National Endowment for the Arts fellowships.

Part of teaching faculty of U.C. Riverside and California Institute for the Arts.

In this clip we see a collaborative effort with Divola and some elementary students as he teaches them about art at the Getty Museum. A project teaching kids about photography and art at the same time!
