Artist of the moment……David Park

David Park was an American painter associated with Bay Area Figurative Movement. David Park was born in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 1911.

For his artistic education the artist attended the California School of Fine Arts.

His work is a great blend of modernism, abstraction, and realism. If I were to compare him to another painter that was not part of the California scene it would be Eric Fischl.

David Park passed away from cancer in 1960.

Price range information: The artist worked in many mediums including pencil, ink, watercolor, and oils. Prices range from $150,000 to $3 million dollars.

Much of his work was done from memory. After being severely damaged physically from cancer to work with oil paints,  Park mastered the medium of watercolor.

In this clip we listen to some Beethoven whilst viewing the work of David Park:

Artist of the moment……..Paul Wonner

Paul Wonner was another painter associated with the California Bay Area Figurative Movement. Paul Wonner was born in the year 1920 in Tucscon, Arizona. The artist is also associated with the abstract expressionist movement.

His partner was also a renown painter named Theophilius Brown.

Favorite themes included the male figure and floral works.

As he got older he added more definition and finished his works in a more realistic manner. I love these floral works best for their unique view points.

Paul Wonner passed away in 2008.

Price range information: The artist worked in many mediums including acrylics, casein, watercolors, gouache, oils, and lithography. Prices range from $3,000 to $300,000.

The artist is part of many prestigious collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian American Art Institute.
