Artist of the moment……Photographer David Maisel



David Maisel is an American photographer renown for his aerial shots of the American landscape taken from an airplane. David Maisel was born in New York City in the year 1961.

In this brief clip we view some wonderful aerial shots of mines taken by Maisel. I enjoy the abstract quality of these works.:

Maisel received a great collegiate education first earning a B.F.A.  from Princeton University. He went on to graduate studies first at Harvard before earning a M.F.A. from the California College of the Arts.

Maisel is a wonderful photographer who seeks out very abstract images that visual delights in color and texture.


Artist of the moment……Yvonne Jacquette

Yvonne Jacquette is an American painter renown for her aerial landscapes depicting big cities such as New York City. Jacquette is an avid painter and printmaker born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the year 1934.

For her artistic education Jacquette attended the Rhode Island School of Design.

Jacquette was a teacher at Moore College of Art located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This college was the first women’s art school in the United States.

Jacquette was also married to a fellow artist named Rudy Burckhardt. Burckhardt was renown for his photography of New York City. He loved to fly and shoot the landscape from an aerial view. Burckhardt was very successful as a commercial photographer and lived from 1914 to 1999.

Artist of the moment….Eric Hopkins


Eric Hopkins is an American artist renowned for his painted aerial views of landscapes and large bodies of water. Eric Hopkins was born in North Haven, Maine in the year 1951. The artist has been working on his subject matter since childhood. The area of Maine he grew up had woods, fields, and shorelines. Hopkins also loved to fly, thus his love for aerial paintings.

For his collegiate education Hopkins attended the Rhode Island School of Design. At the Rhode Island School of Design Hopkins studied under legendary glass blower Dale Chihuly.

Hopkins has had books of art work produced.

Hopkins works in watercolor, gouache, and oils.
