Artist of the moment…….Paolo Scheggi

Paolo Scheggi was a fantastic Italian artist renown for his work with geometric shapes and working with layers and spatial relationships. Scheggi attended the Academy of Fine Art located in Florence, Italy.

Paolo Scheggi was born in Florence, Italy in the year 1940. Scheggi founded a magazine that covered art and culture when he was only 20 years of age.

Two artists that inspired Scheggi were Piet Mondrian and Jean Arp.

In this clip we take a look at one of Scheggi’s works as it appears in a gallery show:

When I first saw the work of this artist I actually thought it was by Lucio Fontana. Fontana often worked with spatial relationships and his work often looks like they surface has a tear or a rip. Below an image of Lucio Fontana’s art.

Though he passed away in 1971 from heart disease at the age of 31 years old,  his work was present in the Venice Biennial in 1972 and 1976.

Price range information: Works range from $20,000 to $750,000. The artist made lithographs and also worked in many mediums including oils, acrylics, cardboard, and aluminum.

It’s very sad that this artist passed¬†away at 31 years of age. He had finally found his artistic voice and personal style.
