Artist of the moment…..Michelle Grabner



Michelle Grabner is an American painter and print maker renown for her abstract style based on basic geometric shapes. Michelle Grabner was born in the year 1962.

Grabner received an excellent collegiate education earning M.A. and a B.F.A. from the University of Wisconsin located at Milwaukee. Grabner also earned a M.F.A. from Northwestern University.

Grabner has held solo exhibitions of her work in the United States and Europe.

Artist of the moment………….Otto Zitko



Otto Zitko is a contemporary abstract painter. Otto Zitko was born in Linz, Austria in the year 1959. Zitko attended the University of the Applied Arts located in Vienna, Austria.

The artist reminds of Cy Twombly, another artist famous for his scribbles! James Nares, the British artist renown for his use of line, also comes to mind when viewing the work of Otto Zitko.




Artist of the moment…….Street Artist 108



108 is an Italian street artist famous for his black and gloomy paintings of organic shapes. 108 was born in Alessandria, Piedmont, Italy in the year 1978.

The artist began as a graffiti writer.

In this clip we view the artist at work on a large mural via time lapse. Its very interesting to see how much thought and layering of colors takes place in one of his signature “blob” works:

108 was one of the first artists to use numbers, rather than letters for his signature.

108 has created works on the wall in both Europe and the United States.

Artist of the moment…….Oswaldo Vigas



Oswaldo Vigas was one of the most famous Venezuelan artists of all time. Oswaldo Vigas was born in Valencia, Carabobo, Valenzuela in the year 1923.

Vigas attended college where he studied medicine, but never practiced. After finishing with school he immediately pursued a career in the arts attending several local universities before moving to Paris, France and studying at the Ecole des Beaux Arts.

Below we visit the studio of Oswaldo Vigas. The interview has English subtitles:

One of Vigas’ favorite subjects to paint were witches.

Oswaldo Vigas passed away on his 90th birthday in 2014.

Over his lifetime the artist had more than 100 solo exhibitions of his works.

Artist of the moment…….Street Artist Oli-B




Oli-B is a street artist from Belgium. His work includes many vibrant colors and shapes. He says art is his therapy and creating the shapes and colors gives him an infinite supply of energy.

Oli- B was born in Brussels, Belgium in the year 1984.

Oli B draws inspiration from one famous French artist already profiled here, Nikki de Saint Phalle. A goal of Oli- B’s is to transform his paintings into 3d.

Oli-B’s art reminds me of Pablo Picasso for its design elements.



Artist of the moment…….Mino Argento



Mino Argento is an Italian painter and collage artist renown for his Abstract style. Mino Argento was born in Rome, Italy in the year 1927.

Argento had a background as an architect before becoming an artist. He left Italy in order to further his art career. At that time in Italy figurative art was the preferred style of painting. The artist relocated to New York City.

Argento uses basic geometric shapes to form new dimensions on the canvas. He paints using mixed mediums on most surfaces including oils and acrylics.

Argento’s art reminds me of the kinetic and Op Artist from Venezuela, Carlos Cruz Diez. Both use simple shapes to create amazing layers of depth and light.

Artist of the moment……….Nychos



Nychos is a fantastic street artist from Austria renown for his style of painting sliced 3d images of his subjects. Nychos was born in Styrios, Austria in the  year 1982. His family enjoyed hunting and this influenced his style of art.

He one was bitten by a boar, then hours later ate boar meat. As his family was full of avid hunters, from a young age he was observing cut up and dissected animals. Nychos was NOT dismayed by seeing the insides of creatures, rather he was fascinated by it.

Nychos appeared at Art Basel Miami in 2014.

What a unique style the artist has created. I am really fond of his creations with the Disney characters!


Artist of the moment………Clet Abraham


Clet Abraham is a fantastic street artist renown for his contemporary interpretation of everyday street signs. His father is a famous French writer named Jean-Pierre Abraham.

The artist was born in France in the year 1966. For his collegiate studies the artist attended the Academy of Fine Arts located in Rennes, France which is in the northwest area of the country. Clet relocated to Florence, Italy in 2005 where he still resides.

Below a great clip showing the hilarious imagery that the artist can create out of boring everyday street signs:

Clet is an amazing artist who is not only very creative, but funny! His style blends everyday imagery with figures that remind me of modern artist Julian Opie. Very clean and simple line work but very expressive with his characters he creates. His finished works also remind of the First Nations group of artists as many times his colors in these works are red, black, and white.



Artist of the moment………..Brendan Monroe


Brendan Monroe is a contemporary American artist renown for his unique paintings of the figure. Brendan Monroe was born in California. Monroe attended the Art Center College of Design located in Pasadena, California.

The artist also works as a sculptor. Monroe also takes on illustration commissions. The artist enjoys challenging himself by learning a new medium.

Audrey Kawasaki is an American street artist renown for her work with the female face and figure. Kawasaki attended the Pratt Institute located in New York City.

I really enjoy the artist’s style of painting the female face and figure on wood. Her backgrounds are very abstract since she paints on wood and lets this pattern be seen. The artist reminds me of Swoon although Kawasaki’s character’s being overtly more sexual.
