The Eiffel Tower opened on March 31, 1889 in Paris, France. Lets take a look at some great works inspired by this famous landmark.
This wonderful poster work of art was done by David Klein. The American poster artist who has piece of New York City’s Time Square that he created in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
This fantastic work was created by Lorraine Christie. Christie excels at painting large groups of people and uses a subdued palette that makes the bold colors of the figures in her work jump towards the viewer.
This work appears small but in fact is slightly larger than 6 feet in height. I enjoy its unusual perspective and bold color choices. This work was done by Robert Delaunay.
As you may have guessed this work was done by Robert Delaunay’s wife, Sonia Delauney. I enjoy her use of triangle and diamond shapes as well as innovative color choices.
This version of the Eiffel Tower was by one of my favorite French artists, Bernard Buffet. I have written about him on more than one occasion as he got sick so he couldn’t make art anymore, than killed himself by suffocation.
This last painting of the Eiffel Tower was done by Impressionist painter Georges Seurat.
It will be interesting to see if the surrounding landscape of the Eiffel Tower will change over the next decades.
