Artist of the moment……….Street artist I-Heart

 

I-Heart is a street artist based out of Vancouver, British Columbia with a style similar to Banksy. The artist, like Banksy, prefers to remain anonymous.

I-Heart enjoys making statements about social media in art.

The artist has made famous works around Vancouver including a mural in Stanley Park, the second largest park in North America behind New York’s Central Park.

The artist Banksy is also a fan of I-Heart. Bansky shared an image the mural in Stanley Park on his website and it went viral. With the work I-Heart wanted to show how connected but yet disconnected we are now thanks to the Internet and Smart Phones.

I think Andy Warhol would be a huge fan of I-Heart for the way the artist incorporates mass social media in his work.

Artist of the moment……….Andrew Spence

 

Sorry I haven’t been writing the past few days. More computer problems came up, but for now they are solved.

Andrew Spence is an American artist renown for his abstract paintings often featuring red and basic geometric shapes. Andrew Spence was born in the year 1947. Spence is a painter and very active printmaker.

Spence attended the Tyler School of Art Temple located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The artist went on to earn a M.F.A.  from the University of California Santa Barbara.

Spence has won a fellowship from the Guggenheim and also a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The artist is based out of New York City.

Spence has such a unique palette for the wonderful reds he uses in his work. This color can be one of the most difficult to control.
