Artist of the moment……….Ward Jackson

Ward Jackson is an American artist renown for his abstract paintings. Ward Jackson was born in Petersburg, Virginia in the year 1928.

Jackson attended college in Richmond, Virginia at the Richmond Polytechnic Institute of the College of William and Mary, which is known as Virginia Commonwealth University, where he earned a M.F.A.

After college Jackson also studied privately with artist Hans Hofmann.

Ward Jackson passed away in 2004.

The artist was a member of the American Abstract Artists and served as secretary of the group for many years.

Ward Jackson is included in prominent museum collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the British Museum located in London.

I find Ward Jackson’s art similar to that of Ellsworth Kelly and Karl Benjamin.

Artist of the moment…………Jill Moser

 

Jill Moser is a wonderful American abstract artist renown for her style of using fluid lines and bright colors in her drawings and paintings. Jill Moser was born in the year 1956 and grew up in New York City.

Moser attended Brown University located in Providence, Rhode Island where she earned a B.F.A. The artist went on to earn a M.F.A. from Hunter College located in New York City.

The artist has taught at the collegiate level at colleges in the eastern part of the United States including Princeton.

Artist of the moment……….Street Artist Tellas

 

 

 

Tellas is a street artist renown for his abstract style of art. The artist is inspired by patterns found in nature in wood, leaves, and birds.

Tellas is based out of Italy.

In this clip we view Tellas working in collaboration with street artist Gloois on a wonderful mural. Its great to see how they build up the image from start to finish. Tellas often uses a drips in his works:

I find Tellas similar to other street artists who work with the same subject matter cleverly combining their art with what is already in their surroundings. Some artists might use a bush or leaves as hair for a figure. Tellas’ work has a lot of movement and the fluid nature of his work keeps the viewers eye moving even when looking at a multiple story mural.
