Artist of the moment………photographer Duane Michals

Duane Michals is an American photographer renown for his black and white images which involve sequences of action. Duane Michals was born in the year 1932.

Duane Michals attended the University of Denver.

Here is a great example of why his style is unique. This sequence of images has an unexpected twist at the end:

Though he studied art in college he didn’t become interested in photography until 1958 whilst visiting the Soviet Union.

The artist has worked as a commercial photographer working for international fashion magazines for multiple decades. Michals also worked for the Mexican government as an official photographer of the 1968 Summer Olympic Games.

Michals is the recipient of the grants from the National Endowment of the Arts.

With the Carnegie Museum of Art we visit the studio of Duane Michals:

The artist is based out of New York City.

Price range information: Works range from $4,000 to $40,000.

My favorite works by this artist are his images of fellow artists. I am sure you recognize Warhol, but did you recognize Rene Magritte wearing his famous hat?
