Roland Reiss is an American artist renown or his work with floral and abstract subject matter. Roland Reiss was born in Chicago, Illinois in the year 1929. Reiss is both a painter and sculptor. He was one of the first artists to use plastic as a medium.
Reiss is also renown for his small tableaus, which are small interior living spaces, which he made himself and sealed in plexiglass.
Reiss earned a B.F.A. and M.F.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles. He went on to be an integral part of the Master’s Program of Claremont College located in Los Angles. He taught at the location for three decades and then retired to paint full time.

The artist grew up in Chicago, a child of the Depression era. One day his father packed up the family and they moved West to Los Angeles, California. His father would become a street car conductor.
Reiss has been the recipient of several grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.
One thing is for sure about the work of Reiss, his many decades of experience painting floral works have brought him a great deal of expertise at using shapes and color to create wonderful abstract art.
