Artist of the moment……..Street Artist Nick Walker

 

Nick Walker is a wonderful street artist from Bristol, England renown for his images of a man in a bowler hat and business suit. Nick Walker was born in the year 1969. Walker is still based out of Bristol.

 

In this clip we view a time lapse of the artist at work on a huge mural:

Nick Walker was born and raised in Bristol, England. His first exposure to graffiti was via the BBC and music videos by groups including Blondie and Malcolm MacLaren.

The artist calls the main character of his art, the Vandal. This man travels around the world from city to city painting the town red by dumping red paint on various targets.

Price range information: Walker work’s as a printmaker but also works with acrylics and spray paint. Works range from $1,000 to $100,000.

The artist was employed by film director Stanley Kubrick to create graffiti for the film starring Tom Cruise ” Eye’s Wide Shut.”

Artist of the moment……..Benjamin Harjo

 

Benjamin Harjo Junior is a wonderful Native American artist who works in Pop Art style. Benjamin Harjo was born in Clovis, New Mexico in the year 1945.

The artist originally wanted to be a cartoonist. He was selling his cartoons locally whilst still in high school. He was excited to attend the Institute of American Indian Art to study animation. After enrolling he found out the institution had cancelled the animation program. Harjo remained there to study.

Harjo was drafted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. After his military discharge the artist finished his B.F.A. degree at Oklahoma State University.

Harjo works in many mediums including oils, gouache, acrylics, watercolor, pen and ink. The artist is also an avid printmaker.
