Tony Bechara was born in Puerto Rico in the year 1942. Bechara is renown for his pointillist abstract paintings that are based on a grid. Bechara works mainly in acrylics and is an avid printmaker.

The artist attended college at the University of Georgetown located in Washington D.C. where he studied law. He also attended the Visual School for the arts and New York University Graduate School for International Relations. Bechara also studied abroad at the Sorbonne located in Paris, France.
Bechara is the chairman of the board of directors of New York’s only museum dedicated to Latin American artists.
