Emiliano Di Calvacanti was a Brazilian painter renown for his work with the figure. Emiliano Di Cavalcanti was born in Rio De Janiero, Brazil in the year 1897. His wife was also a painter named Noemia Mourao. For college Di Cavalcanti tried to attain a law degree, but left to pursue artistic endeavors before becoming a lawyer.

The artist was avid supporter of the Communist party and was put in jail on two separate occasions.

Di Cavalcanti moved to Paris, France and found other modernist painters including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Fernad Leger. Whilst he was living in Paris he attended the Academy Ranson located in Paris.

Below a great montage of works by Di Cavalcanti showing his fantastic paintings of the figure:

Price range information: Sorry none available.

What a great mix of styles that composed this artist’s work. I can see glimpses of Impressionism, Cubism, and Expressionist styles in his art.
