Susan Shatter was an American painter of landscapes and renown for her magnificent watercolors of the sea. Shatter was a painter and printmaker born in the year 1943.
Shatter attended the Skowhegan School of Art located in Skowhegan, Maine. She then switched colleges to the Pratt Institute and earned a B.F.A. from this school. Shatter went on to earn an M.F.A. from Boston University.
The artist was able to take advanced classes as a high school student and her school and also with additional classes paid for her by her parents. Shatter had always shown a desire to create art since she was a youngster.
Some artists that gave Shatter the inspiration to paint are Jackson Pollack, Alex Katz, and Philip Pearstein.
Susan Shatter passed away in 2011 from cancer.
