Ian Wright is a wonderful mixed media artist from the U.K. Ian Wright is based out of the United Kingdom and has used various materials including buttons, torn paper, badges, tape, beads, and salt. I compare him to artist Vik Muniz, who even used chocolate and caviar in some of his artwork.
Wright used salt to produce a work of Rapper Grandmaster Flash. The salt was supposed to represent cocaine in reference to a song made by the artist.
Wright was born in England in the year 1953. The artist attended Goldsmith’s College located in London and received a printmaking degree from the London College of Printing.
Below an interview with Ian Wright talking about working with paper:
In this interview the artist shares more of his creative works that deal with music as a theme:
The artist began his art career creating album covers back in the year 1978.
His artwork has recently graced the cover of Foreign Policy magazine.
