Artist of the moment……..Herman Hansen

Herman Hansen was the father of the previous artist, Armin Hansen. Herman Hansen was born in Dithmarschen, Germany in the year 1854.

As a youngster the artist was encouraged by his parents to draw and paint. Hansen’s father was a draftsman.  When Hansen reached the age of 16 years old, his family allowed him to study with a famous artist who was renown for his military scene paintings. This would help the artist the rest of his life as he was able to produce wonderful compositions that showed the light and hope of the Great American West.

Hansen also studied in England for brief period of time. The artist came to the United States and attended the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois.

Herman Hansen passed away in 1924.

If you this artist and his compositions be sure and review artists Frederic Remington, Charles M. Russell, Russ Vickers, and Howard Terpning. All of these artists were great at depicting scenes that had many figures. These include wagon train parties or a smaller group of people moving by horseback.

price range information: Works range from $10,000 to $100,000. Hansen worked mainly in oils and watercolor.

Great to see three generations of professional working artists!
