Artist of the moment……Alice Scott Scanland

Alice Scott was a wonderful painter of the American South. Alice Scott was born in the year 1924. In addition to her landscapes she enjoyed painting the many colorful skintones of “colored” people.

Much of her work was in watercolor and gouache. Occasionally the artist worked in oils.

Price range information: Works range from $2,000 to $20,000.

Alice Scott passed away in 2005.

Artist of the moment……Dan Dailey (glass)

Dan Dailey makes awesome artwork using glass as his medium. Dan Dailey was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the year 1947. For his artistic education Dailey attended the Philadelphia College of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design.

Dailey founded the glass program at the Massachusetts College of Art.

Dailey has won fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts.

You may be thinking of that other famous glass artist whose name you can’t remember and wears an eye patch. Dale Chihuly. Dan Dailey was the first graduate student Dale Chihuly had whilst a teacher at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Dan Dailey is part of many collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
