Artist of the moment……David Park

David Park was an American painter associated with Bay Area Figurative Movement. David Park was born in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 1911.

For his artistic education the artist attended the California School of Fine Arts.

His work is a great blend of modernism, abstraction, and realism. If I were to compare him to another painter that was not part of the California scene it would be Eric Fischl.

David Park passed away from cancer in 1960.

Price range information: The artist worked in many mediums including pencil, ink, watercolor, and oils. Prices range from $150,000 to $3 million dollars.

Much of his work was done from memory. After being severely damaged physically from cancer to work with oil paints,  Park mastered the medium of watercolor.

In this clip we listen to some Beethoven whilst viewing the work of David Park:

Artist of the moment…….Matteo Negri

Matteo Negri was born in Italy in the year 1980. Since Lego’s are all the fad in the box office, I wanted to check out some artists working with lego’s as part of their artwork. I loved Legos as a child!

Matteo Negri creates various works of art both sculptures using iron and also works on paper.

Price range information: Paper works start at 700 euros for a limited edition print. Sculpture works range from 10,000 to 20,000 euros.

A personal favorite here are the works which reference other modernist painters such as Piet Mondrian. I love the addition of the textured circles to Mondrian’s idea. It was if Modernism became more modern!

Here we visit a show featuring the works of Matteo Negri. The wonderful lighting again adds to the Modernist feeling of his artwork!

Artist of the moment…….Stinkfish

Stinkfish is a wonderful street artist from Mexico who paints portraits with fantastic color and vibrancy. Stinkfish was born in Mexico and grew up in Bogota, Colombia. The artist works on anything that can be painted on! My personal favorite works of the artists are the works created on found magazine covers including Playboy and the  New York Times.

The artist began to work with stencils in the early 2000s and in 2003 created a great work that put him on par with other great street artists. The work was of John F. Kennedy saluting his dead father. Stinkfish prefers to paint on older walls, even with cracks in them that are highly textured.

The artist paints  mainly on the continent of South America.

In this clip we view Stinkfish at work on a piece of art!

Price range information : Sorry none available.

What a great use of color and design in this remarkable street artist!
