Morris Louis was an American painter associated with the American Washington Color Field School Movement. Morris Louis was born in Baltimore, Maryland in the year 1912. For his artistic education Morris Louis attended the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Louis took part in the Works Progress Administration Program from 1936 to 1940.
Price range information: Works range from $300,000 to $4,000,000. Many works at auction have broken the one million dollar barrier.
Louis worked with a specially made acrylic paint called Magna for much of his artwork.
The artist died in 1962 due to lung cancer from toxic fumes used in the production of his wonderful artwork.
