Artist of the moment….Katy Moran

Katy Moran is a British painter born in Manchester, England in the year 1975. For his collegiate education the artist attended Leeds Metropolitan University. In addition Moran attended the Royal Academy of Art located in London, England. Moran works in an abstract style.

Price range information: Works range from $5,000 to $100,000.

Moran works mainly with acrylics and oils on canvas.

Artist of the moment….Abdur Chughtai

Abdur Chughtai was born in what is now Lahore, Pakistan in the year 1897. He is best known for his own style of art which is sometimes referred to as “Chughtai” He enjoyed portraying women and worked in many mediums producing more than 2,000 watercolors and several thousand pencil sketches. Chughtai was also a renowned printmaker. The artist also designed currency and stamps.

Price range information: The artist was highly productive and produced a large body of work in watercolours and etchings ranging from $5,000 to  $300,000

The artist worked in a mixture of styles taking aspects from Islamic art and also from other newer styles of art.

Pablo Picasso was a fan of Chughtai’s work.

The most well known book illustrated by the artist was a great book of poetry by Mirza Ghalib:

Chughtai’s art is part of the British Museum  and the Victoria and Albert Museum, the United Nations  Headquarters, and in the homes of many heads of state.

Abdur Chughtai passed away in 1975.
