So I enjoy looking at the collector’s house as art. With such great magazines like Western Art and Architecture and American Art Collector and other fashion and interior design magazines, we get a very good idea of what collectors display and what the interiors of their houses (mansions) look like. I really enjoy this, to imagine where a painting of yours might spend the rest of your life is very intriguing to me as an artist!
This work features 3 artists, can you name/ find them.
First off we have the yellow glass piece in front. I used a sheet of PVC paper for the base. The artist represented here is Dale Chihuly. Chihuly is currently the United States most popular and renowned glass artist. I enjoy his creative shapes and use of color found in his glass. I tried to make a fun shape for the glass work. Chihuly wears a patch as the result of a car accident in which his head broke through the windshield cutting his face. He was my post earlier today!
Ellsworth Kelly, the painting closest to the staircase. Ellsworth Kelly was born in 1923 in Newburgh, New York. He turned 90 earlier this year! Kelly is a painter and sculptor who is known for his simple abstract works with bold and bright color.
Eero Aarnio is a Finnish interior designer and decorator born in Helsinki, Finland in the year 1932. Aarnio is perhaps best known for his furniture designs with very modern looking works of art. Represented here is his ball chair design. Aarnio won the American Industrial Designer award in 1968. He loved to design furniture based on simple geometric shapes and forms.
The size is 12 inches by 12 inches!
Next up I will posting some caricatures!
