Artist of the moment……Peter Aliknak

Peter Aliknak was an Inuit artist born in the year 1928 in Holman, Nunavut Territory, Canada. Aliknak was one of best Inuits artists at portraying the daily activities including hunting. For a print artist Aliknak does a great job at creating depth in his work by using bird’s eye point of view and repeating the same shapes seen from different angles. A print might include  6 different views of 6 varieties of birds.

The artist was first a sculptor, then became renown more for his graphic design and printmaking talents.

Peter Aliknak passed away in 1998.

Price range information: Most prints range from $300 to $1,000.

Aliknak had a sister named Agnes Nanogak. Nanogak is also based out of Holman and is renowned for her printmaking work. Below an example of art by Agnes Nanogak:

What a great brother and sister family of artists!
