Idris Moss-Davies is a remarkable Inuit artist with a great sense of design in his work. Idris Moss-Davies was born in the year 1974 on Broughton Isand. His mother is Inuit and his father is Welch. When he was young his family moved to Toronto and this is where he found his love of art. One artist he was able to learn the art of carving from was David Ruben Piqtoukun. His mother is an artist working in sculpture and fabric.
Looking at the sculptures by Moss-Davies one might think you are looking at maquettes for an animated Disney movie. The artist has a great sense of design which can be seen in the great hair drawn on the musk ox or even his women. Another tip he is a graft draftsman is that he draws many of characters from three quarter view, rather than straight on. This gives the character more depth but is harder to pull off from a technical standpoint.
The artist is now based out of Ottawa, Canada.
Price range information: Works range from $1,200 to $4,000.
