Artist of the moment…..Ian Francis

Ian Francis was born in Bristol, United Kingdon in the year 1979. His art is made from a variety of mediums as one work usually contains oils, acrylics, pen, charcoal, and ink. For his artistic education Francis earned a bachelors degree in illustration  from the University of the West of England. Using such a wide variety of mediums Francis is able to get very realistic but also very abstract in his artwork.

For his studio habits the artist likes to create art anywhere from 1 to 10 hours per day.

Francis is still based out of Bristol, England.

For his subject matter the artist gathers information from pornography, the internet, movies, and street culture.

Artist of the moment…….Turataga Ragee

Turataga Ragee is a contemporary Inuit artist born in Cape Dorset, Nunavut Territory, Canada in the year 1963. The artist works with wildlife and animals as his main subject. Birds are also a favorite subject.

Both parents were artists, Kuppakik and Anirnik Ragee.

The artist has two brothers who also are professional artists, Tapanie and Qiatsuq.

Artist of the moment…..Christiane Baumgartner

Christiane Baumgartner was born in Leipzig, Germany in the year 1967. The artist has a great story in that she started off being a traditional painter, discovered her love of  video art, and then found her own unique voice using a still from video as the basis of her woodblock. The artist creates her woodcuts on traditional Japanese paper.

For her artistic education Baumgartner attended school in Germany before earning a masters degree in printmaking from the Royal College of Art located in London.

Has done a residency in the country of Vietnam.

Artist of the moment……Taurai Maisiri

Taurai Maisiri is a shona artist born in Zimbabwe. Maisiri is one of few Shona artists that specializes in animals and wildlife of Africa rather than its people. Maisiri works often with the buffalo or rhino as his subject.
