Candida Hofer is a photographer born in  Eberswalde, Germany in 1944. For her artistic education the artist attended Kunstakadamie in Dusseldorf. Her father was a famous journalist that was employed by the Nazi party and responsible for a large amount of its propaganda. The artist is known for love of architecture and large empty spaces when it comes to shooting interior scenes.

Candida Hofer started out her photography career as a portrait photographer working for newspapers.

Another well liked series was done on zoos in Europe. Images like the giraffe in the gallery.

The artist also did a great series concentrating on the design and interior of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.

Was a student of the Becher family. I wrote about this family a short time ago, they were famous for photographing industrial images for example a coal mine or a water tower. Most of their students worked in black and white, Candida Hofer was one of few students that worked with color.

price range information:  Works range from $1,000 to $110,000.

First solo exhibition was in 1975 in Dusseldorf, Germany.

In this clip a great interview with the artist as she shares some of her process.

In this clip we visit Florence, Italy for a shoot.

Hofer is now based out of  Cologne, Germany.
