Some works of art celebrating the Fourth of July

Lets take a look at some work that celebrates the holiday! First up we have a wonderful piece by Ed Ruscha. Made in the USA and Made in America were logos plastered everywhere when I grew up during the 1980s.

And of course we must visit the great Andy Warhol and his tribute to Uncle Sam.

Ab the Flagman Ivens is an artist that works with found wood and other recycled goods. His real name is Roger Ivens.

Charles Fazzino is an artist I recently profiled famous for his three dimensional art. A great piece celebrating the country below.

Vito Acconci is a painter who sometimes does performance art. Below an example of his take on the flag.

And here  the great Jasper Johns talking about painting the flag.

An artist who takes famous images and reworks them using digital technology is Jon Rafman. This work is titled The Oval Office in the style of Jasper Johns. What great piece to celebrate the day!

And to close we check out an artist well known for his appropriation work, Richard Pettibone.

How about getting in the spirit of the day and working with a subject that has to do with the fourth. Some ideas would be fireworks, beer and alcohol bottles, and of course flags!

Happy Holidays!
