Artist of the moment………Latcholassie Akesuk

Latcholassie Akesuk was yet another great Inuit carver. Latcholassie Akesuk was born in 1919 in Cape Dorset, Nunavet Territory, Canada and was the son of a well known carver named Tidlik who was born in 1890 and lived until 1966.

Price range information: Stone works range $1,000 to $20,000.

Latcholassie’s favorite subject was birds and the medium he used the most was stone.

The artist passed away in 2000.

His wife,  Simaiyok Akesuk,  is also a well renown artist. Some children are well known artists and I will follow up on them for Memorial Day.

In this clip from Waddington’s auction house of Canada we see a work by Latcholassie Akesuk up for auction.
