If I were to compare the artist to another contemporary it would be the artist known as Alec Monopoly. Famous for using the $Monopoly man character in his work, many times to poke fun at fiscal or monetary policies of the country. Here is a great example of Alec Monopoly’s work.

Schumann is part of several museum collections such as the Dallas of Art, the Whitney Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, California, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

I love the way that Schumann  incorporates cartoons into the world of fine art. Another artist who has a similar idea is Tim Liddy. I have written about him in the past as he paints these trompe works that appear to be the top of boxes of old board games from the 1940s to 1960s. Some are real some and some are  imagined and he gets spectacular results. Not only a great and humorous feel with the cartoons in his work, but tremendous skill in painting old and weathered tape and the worn edges of the boxes holding the games.
